Created in 2002 by Rabbi Steven Burg and now run via Orthodox Union employees, JSU attempts to create Jewish culture clubs in public schools across the country. Originally created as a separate non-profit entity from NCSY in order to serve a broader spectrum of Jewish teens, the executive and lay-leadership of JSU in 2012 felt they could no longer have informal or formal connections to NCSY or any particular stream of Judaism.
